DJI Mavic Air 2

Comment

DJI is far from being immune to leaks, so there wasn't really that much left to announce today other than the most minute of details of the incoming DJI Mavic Air 2. If you're unfamiliar with the leaks or the DJI line of drones, the DJI Mavic Air line is perhaps the one that incorporates the best balance of features among all of their drones. As the owner of a [now crashed] Inspire 2 and a Mavic 2 Pro, the Mavic Air is the drone I want. And the Mavic Air 2 is the one I want even more.

So what's new on this drone that would make you want it? How about 8K Video. Yeah, 8K! If that's not enough, it can do 4K Video at 60 frames per second, and 1080p at a cool 240fps. These high frame rate video options can give you some very cool action shots; whatever your favorite activity is. Understandably, there may be some limitations to how creative you can get depending on where in the country you are. But hey, you can fly this from just about anywhere and gain some perceived freedom that way.

This puppy can also fly at close to 42mph which is just a tad slower than the fastest Mavic out there (Mavic 2 @ 45mph). It does have the longest flight time of any other drone in the Mavic line (34 minutes!). Well, why tell you about all this when you can look at it in this short video from DJI:

Perhaps what makes this the most versatile Mavic is its size. I've traveled with the Mavic 2, and the Air is even smaller; yet it can do things my drone can't do. Portability and ease of use is what makes the Mavic line so attractive. If you've been considering getting a drone, this is probably the best bang for the buck.

The Mavic Air 2 ships in two weeks, and you can pre-order starting today. I do recommend the fly-more combo though which includes a carrying bag, extra propellers, extra batteries AND for the first time, ND filters.

What else is there to look at? This baby is on my wish list.
